Angul: Fearing bird flu around 1000 ‘Banraj’ variant of chicken were culled here.The chicken were buried under ground after the culling. This culling drive began in the Hemsurpada area of Angul.
The cullling drive shall be on for two-three days. All the chicken shall be killed within 1 km radius of the bird flu infected farm.
The district administration has alerted all the chicken farms and has temporarily closed all of them in the area. Restrictions have also been imposed on import of chicken from outside the district. The district administration has also ordered ban on use consumption of chicken, duck and eggs for at least three months.
Further initiative will be taken after bird flu tests in May 2017.
Area with in 10-km-radius of the government poultry farm has been declared as the ‘alert zone’.
Angul DM cum Collector Anil Ku Samal has also ordered a massive cleanliness drive in the area. He also informed this reporter that the loss shall be compensated by the Government.
