Major reshuffle in the IPS officers of Odisha Police


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today effected a major reshuffle in the IPS cadre.

Manoj Kumar Chabra – ADG (Training) BPSPA. SM Narvane – ADG OHRC.

Radha Kishan Sharma – IG (EOW) and STF and Arun Bothra is new IG (Railways).

Susanta Kumar – IG (Northern Range). Vinayatosh Mishra is now the IG (Eastern Range).

The 1998 batch IPS Amitabh Thakur has been appointed as the new IG (Modernization), while 1999 batch IPS Ghanshyam Upadhyay is new IG (Southern Range).

Nikhil Kumar Kanodia is now DIG (Police training) BPSPA and Kavita Jalan shall take charge as the DIG of Rourkela.

Umashankar Dash- SP Rourkela, IPS Prakash R is now the SP of Jharsuguda.

Sanjeev Arora is SP Sambalpur and IPS Anirudh Kumar Singh has been given thr new chsrge as SP Mayurbhanj.

Akhileswar Singh has been posted as the new DCP of Cuttack and IPS Brijesh Kumar Rai is new SP of Angul.

Charan Singh Meena is now SP of Jajpur and Mitrabhanu Mahapatra has been appointed as the new SP of Kandhamal.

IPS Sarah Sharma is new Principal Police Training Institute Byree and Kanwar Vishal Singh of the same batch is the new SP of Koraput.

K Siva Subramani has been taken in as the SP of Bolangir. Ashish Kumar Singh is the new S P of Nayagarh.

While 2011 batch IPS Pinak Mishra is the new SP of Sundargarh, Battula Gangadhar of the same batch is the new SP of  Deogarh.

Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra, 2012 batch IPS is the new SP of Boudh, while the same batch IPS Madkar Sandeep Sampat is the new SP Kalahandi.

While 2013 batch IPS Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo is the new SP of Nawarangpur.


Tathagata buries the hatchet at Naveen Niwas ; Suparno veils a comment


Bhubaneswar: At a public meeting Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satpathy had called former Minister and party colleague Debi Prasad Mishra a ‘thief’. Today, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik had called the duo to his residence Naveen Niwas.

The duo were accompanied by Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Keshari Deb.

“It was a slip of tongue. I expressed my regret over my remark. We are friends and we don’t have any bitter feelings amongst us,” said Tathagata Satpathy

” Tathagata is a dear friend of mine. He has already spoken in public forum. We both talked about the issue in front of CM,” said Debi Prasad Mishra

Naveen Patnaik on June 8 had sought an explanation from Tathagata for his remark against the party vice president at a public meeting.

Today Tathagata clicked a selfie and tweeted the same announcing his truce with Debi.

To the same Tathagata’s political adversary, noted socio-political leader and Chairman of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Shri. Suparno Satpathy was quick to tweet an interesting veiled comment on this matter.

Kin of the Dhenkanal rape & murder victim receive support


Dhenkanal: Transport Minister and MLA of Parajang Nrusingha Sahu and a host of social activists today met the family members of the widow who was brutally gangraped and murdered in Balikuma village Kankadahada area.

Social activists Namrata Chaddha and Linkan Subudhi met the victim’s kin. They met the victim’s minor son who is a witness in this gruesome  incident, the child was on his way to the court along with IIC of Kankadahada to record his statement.

Strong voice of Dhenkanal, noted socio-political leader and Chairman of SNSMT Shri. Suparno Satpathy also had a word with the kin of the deceased victim. He took to twitter for putting out his statement.  He tweeted @SuparnoSatpathy “All the 3 accused in the infamous #Dhenkanal rape & murder case have been arrested. Today, I had a word with the deceased victim’s kin”

Intellectuals have demanded a fast track court proceedings of this case and the courts has been requested to consider this as a ‘rarest of rare’ case.


Two suspended for the death of elephants in Odisha


Dhenkanal: The Forest Department today suspended two of its employees in connection with the death of three elephants due to electrocution in the forest of Borapada in Dhenkanal district.

Forester Punya Bikash Bhoi and Forest Guard Srikant Guru were suspended today for the incident which took place on 10th of June ‘2017. Cases against four employees of Enzen Global Solutions too have been registered in connection with this incident.

Energy Minister Shri. Prafulla Kumar Mallick had visited the spot and had held discussions with officials of Forest Department.

SNSMT Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy who has been strongly campaigning for the cause of elephants said that that the guilty must be strongly delt with. He also added that CESU was accountable for the maintenance of 33 and 11 KV transmission lines and Engen was accountable for the LT transmission lines.

Homage to Smt. Nandini Satpathy

Bhubaneswar: On the 86th birth anniversary of the Iron lady of Odisha and the firebrand leader of India, rich tributes were paid to Late Smt. Nandini Satpathy in several places of Odisha and outside. Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) and a few other individuals/ organisations had organised the same.
Today morning a few had assembled here, near the Raj Bhawan of Odisha where a statue of Smt. Nandini Satpathy is installed.
Remembrance meetings were held in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal,  Angul,  Talcher,  Sambalpur,  Puri, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj,  Delhi, Mumbai , Gurgaon,  Bengaluru, Chennai, Pudduchery, Kolkata, Dhaka, Washington DC, London  and a few other places.
Addressing a remembrance meeting here, the Chairman of SNSMT Shri. Suparno Satpathy spoke about his personal relationship with his grandmother legendary late Smt. Nandini Satpathy. In his short address he also thanked every one who had taken out time and had paid their homage to the former CM of Odisha. He also conveyed his greetings to all the daughters of India.
It is to be noted that ‘9th of June’, the birth day of Smt. Nandini Satpathy as a mark of respect to her was notified as the National Daughters’ Day of India – ‘Nandini Diwas’ in year 2007 by the then Governor of Odisha Shri. Rameshwar Thakur and it had been veted by the then PM of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Parcel bomb in Dahapada, Odisha


Balasore: Three are reportedly critical in a parcel bomb explosion at village Dahapada in Balasore district of Odisha.

According to reports last night the parcel bomb was found by Usha Pradhan and her daughter Mama in the verandah of their house. They then called out for their neighbour Jashobanta Pradhan to check on what it was.  As soon as Jashabanta opened the parcel, the bomb inside it exploded, leaving the three of them grievously injured.

They were rushed to Balasore district HQ hospital. Later Jashobanta and Mama were shifted to Cuttack SCB as their condition is critical.

A Police investigation into the incident in going on.

Sam Pitroda ditches Naveen Patnaik for Sonia Gandhi

Bhubaneswar: This evening noted telecom engineer Sam Pitroda rendered his resignation as the Technical Advisor to Odisha Government.

Pitroda enjoyed the rank of a Cabinet Minister in Govt. of Odisha and was to work for Odisha Vision 2036.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik reportedly accepted Pitroda’s resignation and thanked him.

Pitroda had recently been appointed by Sonia Gandhi as the Chairman of Overseas Congress Department of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).


An attempted selfie with a wild elephant, lands Dhenkanal man in near fatal condition

Dhenkanal: A young man identified as Abhisekh Nayak of Masania village of Odapada block in Dhenkanal district today almost got killed for attempting to click a selfie on his mobile phone with a wild elephant. 

The locals of Masania village in Khadagprasad gram panchayat were panic struck for the past two days as a herd of elephant had wandered into their panchayat. Last afternoon, out of curiosity, few locals had ventured into the woods to have glimpse of the wild elephants. Without realising the risk involved, Abhisekh went to one of the wild elephants to snap a moment with him. Getting intimidated the tusker went violent and chased Abhisekh while he moved too close to click a selfie. The elephant charged at him and attacked him.

With near fatal injuries on Abhisekh, the villagers somehow managed to rescued him from the spot and rushed him to the district head quarter hospital. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. His condition is serious.

She bagged three prestigious titles 1) Golden Crown Little Miss Universe Internet 2017, 2) Little Miss Universe Grand Prix and 3) Little Miss Actress (popularly known Best Talent of the world)

A few days back Padmalaya along with her family had called on Union MoS PNG (I/C) Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan. The Minister had tweeted about it too.
